SFA (Sales Force Automation) is a software that runs on mobile terminals used by field sales representatives. The main topics we addressed by a SFA are as follows: taking control over the activity carried out by the field sales representatives (agents, supervisors, merchandisers) and minimizing errors by automating the administrative tasks systematically performed by an agent (drawing up an order, trade policy implementation, data collection). The two categories of specialized sales activities covered by the SFA are: Presales – order taking by the salesperson at the client’s office and that VanSales – drawing up the order, invoicing, collection and direct delivery to the field from a van (Van). In some industries such as FMCG, it is often said that SFA = CRM. SFA includes the specific functionalities of the sales-focused CRM, but generally speaking CRM does not also ensure sales task automation, which is usually available in a SFA.
